This August is also National Immunization Awareness Month. Thus, here are some important facts about immunization. Immunization is a process whereby a person becomes immune to an infectious disease. This happens through the administration of a vaccine. Vaccines are effective and safe. So, no need to worry. Parents can help their kids stay healthy and free of preventable diseases, by ensuring they get their shots.
Presently, Vaccine-preventable disease like measles and mumps continue to affect children in the United States. According to a press release by CDC, “there have been about 971 cases of measles in the United States as at May 2019. And it is the greatest number of cases reported in the U.S. since 1994 when 963 cases were reported for the entire year”. By immunizing your child, you are protecting their health and the health of others. Don’t forget that there are vaccines for adults as well.
