Hunger and food insecurity are big challenges the world currently faces. Therefore, the onus is on every community member to come forward, and come together, to make a difference in this situation.
Food insecurity will be pushed to the barest minimum only when enough people care to promptly and collectively act.
Here are three ways to help your local community fight food insecurity:
If one person takes the responsibility of at least one less-privileged individual, it will go a long way.
So, if you are financially able, consider helping at least one person in your community who goes to bed hungry. Start with just one person.
Remember, be the change you want to see in the world.
Don’t be the person who fails to act.
Google “food pantry near me”, find out locations of local pantries, then assist those who need food to reach these pantries.
If it’s a mobile pantry, you can reach out to them directly and help them locate individuals and families in need of food.
There are many people and organizations out there who are actively working in communities to feed people and end food insecurity.
But the task in front is big and they can’t do it alone. They need support from more community members. Be that support-offer to volunteer as well.
Find these organizations that are offering free food to poor people, and extend your support to them. Your support could be in form of money and time. By so doing you will be encouraging good work.
In addition, make more people in your community aware of hunger and food insecurity. The more people who are aware and who decides to offer help, the easier will it be to fight hunger.
Indeed, it’s a long battle ahead and it’s not going to be easy. But if every community member decides to act and be more active, then more Americans won’t sleep with an empty stomach.
