CWWCHC’s PrEP program is partially funding by Mecklenburg County and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
Prevention is at the heart of all we do. This is why PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) service is one of our health center offerings. This service provides people who are at risk of HIV infection, with a prevention option.
PrEP is a medication that helps at-risk HIV-negative individuals lower their chances of becoming infected with the virus. If you are exposed to HIV but have been taking PrEP correctly, the treatment will stop you from getting HIV. High-risk individuals include a person who have had multiple sexual encounters without condoms, injection drug user, someone in a sexual relationship with an HIV partner; a high-risk pregnant woman, breastfeeding mother or woman trying to conceive.
At CWWCHC, we are professionals and we care. If you are at risk of HIV, please contact us. We provide PrEP services and other prevention strategies, to ensure you stay protected. We will also monitor, advice and support you.
